Aoi n Bea
“And he said, ‘I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.'”
-Genesis 3:10
Now you’re probably thinking, “Is this woman nuts?”, while looking at this work. Well, the answer is yes, and for good reasons (hopefully). The human body is the most complex and delicate structure God has ever created. I feel that it should be celebrated as the most beautiful thing in the world. I’m serious. Unfortunately, because of lust and social media, our bodies are seen as only functions for sex and pleasure; I blame Eve. With “Aoi n Bea”, I want to show that you can still be yourself while being free and vulnerable to the world and do everyday activities (in private or a safe space, we still have laws).
My biggest inspirations for this work are the aesthetics from the late 60s/ early 70s. Red Hot Chili Peppers may or may not have played a part. Asian culture, meme culture and anime also played a major part in my development. And last but not least… Haulover Beach.
